Barbara’s year has not been going well. Both her parents died, she gained a lot of weight, and her husband left her. And now, she’s stuck attending a million holiday parties for work. . .with both her ex and his new girlfriend. She’s not feeling the holiday cheer, that’s for sure.
Bentley, on the other hand, has realized that while his life is pretty good, he really wants to settle down with an amazing woman. Unfortunately, while he’s a whiz at making money, he’s not so great at choosing people to date. He and his old friend Barbara make a deal. He’ll be her date to the dreaded holiday parties, and in exchange, she’ll help him weed through the dross to find the shimmering treasure he wants to build a life with.
It doesn’t take Bentley very long to realize that Barbara’s the one he wants, but she’s not as quick to believe that she’s good enough for the handsome billionaire Bentley. Can he convince her that she’s everything he needs in time to spruce up the holiday season? Or will her miserable year come to just as tragic a close?

I hate the foster child trope. I don't know any foster parents whose foster children have adapted easily. Some never adapt. I fear it gives the wrong impression that foster care is easy-peezy. There is no way those girls would've lost their mother and have somebody swoop in and take them home and not have grief and attachment issues.
What an enjoyable read - Barbara & Bentley are two lovely people who deserve each other. They're good friends willing to help each other out and build each other up, which is the best sort of relationship.
Never too late for love! Sometimes it has been staring you in the face!! A truly enjoyable read with Barbara finally getting her due plus 3!! Its a heartfelt story of a woman who is always giving of herself and the tradedy she endures to finally open her eyes to love and happiness. There are moments within the book that are comical which had me laughing out loud!
Book three of The Scarsdale Foster series was a surprise book, one that the author wasn't planning to write, but oh wow, what a good surprise. I just loved the story told in this book.We get the Barbara and Bentley story on this one, they are the best friends of Seren and and Dave, and we have already being introduced to Bentley since book 1 of the series.I loved the way that Barbara learns to love herself and accept her body after her husband leaves her and Bentley makes her see and accept herself as a competent and valuable woman. This is a sweet story that will live in your heart for days to come after finishing reading it.
I enjoyed reading this, but it was sometimes a little too silly. There is no way those two girls could be legally adopted so fast in this day and age. And the author is a lawyer. She should know that. Barbara's horrible year was brought up too much. I know everyone grieves differently but it almost came across as begging for pity. Helping Bentley find a woman to date started off okay, but it took her too long to realize she was worth loving. Having said all that, I'm glad I read it. It was a sweet story. So I do recommend it.
